The short answer

A website costs more than its design or monthly software fee. A realistic budget includes planning, copy and assets, the build, hosting, a domain, maintenance and the time someone spends coordinating all of it.

There is no single fair price for every small-business website. A focused site that explains one service is different from an online store, booking platform or custom application. Start by defining the job the website must do, then compare ways to deliver that outcome.

The seven cost categories

1. Strategy and discovery

Before design begins, someone must identify the audience, the offer, the desired visitor action and the content the site needs. A clear brief reduces revisions and helps every later decision.

2. Writing and content

Headlines, service descriptions, calls to action, frequently asked questions and legal information all take time. Photography, illustrations, logos and testimonials may carry separate production or licensing costs.

3. Design and build

This covers page structure, visual direction, responsive layouts and implementation. Costs rise with the number of genuinely different pages, integrations, complex interactions and review rounds.

4. Domain name

A domain is the address people type to reach the site. Registration and renewal are normally recurring, and prices depend on the extension and registrar. Premium or unusually expensive domains need separate treatment.

5. Hosting, security and deployment

The website files need reliable hosting, HTTPS and a deployment process. Some services bundle these; others charge separately or require the owner to configure them.

6. Maintenance and changes

Offers change, team details move and new questions appear. Budget for whoever will keep the information accurate, repair issues and manage routine updates.

7. Your own time

DIY software may have a low invoice but still require research, writing, layout work and troubleshooting. The relevant question is what that time is worth to the business.

Compare the same scope.

A low monthly software price, a one-off design quote and a managed subscription include different responsibilities. Write down who supplies content, hosts the site and handles future changes before comparing totals.

Three common ways to buy a website

ModelWhat you pay forMain tradeoff
DIY website builderSoftware, templates and hosting features. You provide the strategy, content, design time and maintenance.
One-off website projectA defined design and build with agreed deliverables.Higher initial commitment; support after launch may be separate.
Managed subscriptionOngoing production, hosting and agreed changes for a recurring fee.The service scope and cancellation terms define what is included.

None is automatically cheapest. The right model depends on available cash, internal time, required functionality and how often the site will change.

How JinggaWeb prices the standard service

JinggaWeb charges USD $14 per month for a managed static business website, including deployment and hosting. The USD $19 per month plan also includes one eligible standard domain. There is no setup fee after you approve the free homepage demo.

Both plans include unlimited queued standard change requests. We work on one active request at a time and ask for up to three working days to attend to each request. Cancellation requires 14 days’ written notice.

This price works because the standard service is deliberately focused. Ecommerce, account systems, complex integrations, custom applications and materially larger sites require a Custom assessment.

Questions to answer before setting a budget

  1. What single action should a visitor take?
  2. How many distinct services or topics need their own page?
  3. Who will supply and approve the words, logo and images?
  4. Does the site need payments, bookings, accounts or external systems?
  5. Who will make changes after launch?
  6. Who owns and renews the domain?
  7. What happens to the website if an ongoing service ends?
